Share the warmth with Polartec – help give blankets to the homeless

SharetheWarmth

With your help, Polartec® is donating 1,000 fleece blankets to the homeless this holiday season.

For every 10 new fans added to our Facebook Fan Page, Polartec® will donate one fleece blanket to a homeless shelter. We will donate 100 blankets to shelters in the top ten US cities where our fans live, so encourage your friends to become a fan of Polartec® and help someone less fortunate in your hometown.

Blanket, greenThe blankets we are donating are made from Polartec® Thermal Pro® fabric so they are incredibly warm, soft and durable.

The promotion will start on December 22, 2009 and end at midnight EST on January 4, 2010.  Become a fan here. Please pass this along!

Thanks, and Happy Holidays from your friends at Polartec!

Hey polartec, why don’t you do something truly charitable and give those blankets away without condition. That is so incredibly self-serving it makes me want to never use your stinky products. what you’re saying is, “give us an opportunity to market crap to you or we don’t give blankets away. Your charitable facade is pretty obvious.
I’d be far more inclined to support a company that demonstrates real generosity.

    Hi Rick-

Thank you for your feedback. This program to donate 1,000 blankets actually represents less than one third of the total blankets we will give away this year. We have already made significant donations to the Blue Star Mothers and our local Boston-area homeless shelters, without any fanfare. We believe this campaign is an opportunity to draw attention to the needs of the homeless and to get our fanbase thinking about what they might be able to contribute as individuals. We know our blankets will make a difference for many people this winter and hope the campaign inspires others. Enabling our fans to self-select the cities where the donations will be made seemed like the most democratic approach. And sure, we hope to grow our online community through this program, but that’s one of the best things about Facebook, you can choose to join or remove yourself from any network at any time.

    Sincerely,
    Nate Simmons
