Each year, Polartec honors the finest Polartec-based garments with a prestigious Polartec APEX Award. We announced the North American and European winners back in May. Most of these pieces are now available for purchase. Check ‘em out!

66ºNorth (Pole) Holiday Giveaway

Well, it’s the holiday season and our friends over at 66ºNorth have sent us a few jackets to give away. Tis the season for giving, right?

We will be giving away two jackets this time around. The Vatnajokull Jacket, designed with Polartec® Wind Pro® / Polartec® Wind Pro® Stretch, is wind and water resistant with excellent breathability for getting after it even in cold weather. We are giving away a dark blue/black men’s jacket in size medium.

The Men’s Frost Jacket is designed with Polartec® Classic® 300 to be a comfortable hoody jacket for everyday wear or layering under a shell in tough weather. We are giving away a brown men’s jacket in size large.

How can you win one?
To be eligible, you must go to the Polartec Facebook Page and in a short comment underneath THIS post, give us one new addition to the classic 12 Days of Christmas with some outdoor-style. 12 Climbers Belaying? Five apres-ski beers? And a Polartec Jacket under the tree, of course.

We only have the Frost Jacket in a size Large and the Vatnajokull in a size Medium. Size exchanges will not be available.

We will pick a winner at random on Wed December 22th at Noon MST.

At Polartec, we are always floored at the innovative ways that designers in all industries from the military, to bedding, to high fashion, use our fabrics to create incredible products. We always like to give credit where credit is due, but it turns out that it is way more fun if a well-known celebrity does that for us.

Just this week, we gave an APEX Award to Vaute Couture Inc., a cruelty-free and sustainable design label founded by Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart, for her Vaute Coat, which uses Polartec Wind Pro® fabric. A Chicago-native, Hilgart spent eight months researching fabrics and searching for innovative manufacturers before launching her line. Needless to say, we are honored that she chose us.

Not only did the Voute Couture Vaute Coat show up earlier this year in Teen Vogue, but the El Coat was just spotted on the FOX hit, BONES, worn by the show’s star, Emily Deschanel, while playing a very fashionable forensic scientist.

While she may be studying dead bodies on the clock, Deschanel fortunately spends her free time hunting down eco-deals, and picked the El Coat, alongside Vaute Couture tank tops, as some of her favorite eco-friendly finds in this month’s Marie Claire magazine.

Polartec Proudly Supports the US and UK Ski Teams

We’ve had a blast watching the Olympics thus far, especially the alpine ski racing. Keep an eye out for this official US Ski Team jacket from Under Armor featuring Polartec® Wind Pro® fabric. The fabric has Polartec’s proprietary Hardface treatment for added durability and water resistance, waterproof zippers, taped seams and integrated MP3 capability – it’s a very cool, technical jacket for the US skiers (but unfortunately not available to purchase).

Polartec also supports the United Kingdom ski team, providing fabric for the team’s Colmar jackets.
